4 Minutes a Day

Yesterday I had a Jr. League meeting after work, but I really wanted to sneak in a workout beforehand. I decided to stop by Liberty Park, my new favorite running spot, and run a couple laps. Two laps would put me at 3 miles. I have been loving this route lately because I can look down and run on the wood chip track that flanks the park. I completely zone out and the miles just fly by.

Nice on the knees too!
By the time I got started yesterday afternoon, I had less than thirty minutes to get my run done before heading to the meeting. I figured any exercise was better than no exercise and so I squeezed in 2 miles. Sometimes, I fall victim to the "go big or go home" mentality. I used to miss so many workouts because I didn't think they would be "worth" it. At BifG we will occasionally do a Tabata style workout.

The idea is that you pick an exercise. It could be push-ups, squats, pull-ups, biceps or whatever. You repeat the exercise of choice for as many reps as you can fit in in a 20 second interval. You spend the next 10 seconds resting. You repeat this a total of 8 times. Yep, that's it. 4 minutes and you are done. If you are over achiever, you can repeat it again with another exercise.
HM and I are looking for way to stay in shape and workout when we go on our big fall trip. I think this would be a great way to workout. I know it sounds easy, but try doing a Tabata workout with jump squats! I was sore for days!!!! Here is a link to a free Tabata timer. Try it sweets and let me know what you think!

Oh, and if my sister is reading this post (as she should) then Happy Birthday Laurie!!!!
