Well last night at BifG, I was introduced to a new type of workout. It is perfect for those who are short on time. Maybe you have heard of it maybe you haven't. It is called Tabata.
|I will probably die at this gym...|
Borrowed from my buddy Wiki- here are the basics:
"A popular regimen uses 20 seconds of ultra-intense exercise (at an intensity of about 170% of VO2max) followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated continuously for 4 minutes (8 cycles). The Tabata workout has shown to increase anaerobic capacity."
I followed the definition above- 8 rounds of 20 seconds and then 10 seconds of rest.I repeated it for multiple exercises. The exercises included:
Jumping Pull Ups
Sprints (like a football player- touch a line and back)
The workout took 34 minutes (2 minute break in the middle). Quick and dirty. My type of workout!!! Of course my trainer didn't let me just leave after it was over....stair climber, level 8, for 10 minutes? Ah gee, thanks.
My arms and legs are dead after the Tabata workout. You sweets ready to give it a whirl? You can use a free Tabata time that will count it down for you, rests and all!
