As you all probably know by now, I like to watch Gossip Girl episodes while I am doing most of my (non-running) cardio. I am probably the only one late to this party....but that Blake Lively is sooooo hot! I think I have a crush. Don't worry HM, it is just a fitness crush.
I of course had to Google her to show HM what he has been missing out on.....but then my cyber stalking became more focused. I started to look up Blake Lively's fitness "secrets". According to this article, Blake got ready for her role in the Green Lantern (which I have zero plans to see) by incorporating the following into her fitness routine:
1) Circuit Training
2) Dynamic Core Moves
2) Dynamic Core Moves
From what I can gather/remember from Jr. High, circuit training consists of doing a series of about 10 exercises. You do as many reps as you can (good form) in a 60 second session. Then spend about 15 seconds moving to the next station. After completing all the exercises in the circuit, you give yourself a two minute rest before repeating the circuit again (3 times seems to be a good number, no?) 24 Hour Fitness makes this easy because they have a special section of color coded machines all in a row. Zoom zoom. I think I am going to try this after I finish my current weight lifting routine that I just started with HM yesterday. (too be added to the Lifting Love page soon)
Dynamic Core Moves:
I already do a lot of this, but I think I am going to add in more to my daily routines. Dynamic core moves replace boring 'ol sit-ups and crunches with moves that include pikes on a ball, planks, side planks, etc. If the following pictures are not helpful, here is a cool article.
Basically, this means jumping. The goal is to stretch the muscle before you contract the muscle. Jump squats are a great example. I do jump squats and that bench hop exercise. You know- the one where you use a flat bench, put your hands on it for support, and then hop over the bench from side to side. For the love of Blake though, I am going to join the "hardcores" and start using the boxes at the gym. Jump off one box onto the floor and then rebound and jump onto the next higher box.
If all of this works for 21 year old Blake Lively then it has to work for me too right? Yep, thought so!
Sweets, who do you think is the most fit celebrity?
