As you know, yesterday was my long run day. That makes today REST DAY!!! I kicked off my rest day yesterday evening. After we recovered from our run, HM and I went to a wine festival in Park City. It was fantastic! The tickets were a bit on the expensive side ($90 each), but we both agreed it was well worth it.
Posting this pic as punishment to HM who does not stop chewing during photo ops
Upon entry, you are given a wine glass. You are then free to wander around the festival and stop at different wine and food booths. It was mostly wine, but there was also an alcohol and beer section. I discovered I like Japanese vodka (who knew?!?!) and I visited the Stella Artois booth MANY times. I am almost embarrassed to say it, but I went there so many times that I now have an entire set of the gold rimmed Stella glasses!
Needless to say, I put myself to bed early last night. This morning, continuing Rest Day in style, HM and I went to brunch and then at the spur of the moment (so not HM) we stopped to visit the zoo.
Sometimes I feel guilty taking a rest day. HM is not convinced he needs a rest day. If he can train all season and finish the race in good health then fine by me, he can do it his way. If I don't take a day off, I notice that I am sore a lot more and can't lift as heavy of weights as I normally can. I guess the smart thing for me to do is to rest responsibly!
How many of you sweets take a rest day? Do you notice any difference when you work out too many days in a row?
